Conference 2018 – Info
The Humanities at Hood Conference will take place on Saturday, September 15th in Whitaker Commons on the Hood Campus from 8 AM until 5 PM.
The purpose of this conference is twofold: to provide undergraduate and graduate students a venue at which they can gain valuable experience presenting their scholarship, and to advocate for the value of an education in the humanities. There is no charge to attend this conference, and the panels are open to the public.

The Keynote Address
The keynote address will be given by Dr. Jessica Berman, Director, Dresher Center for the Humanities and Professor of English at The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Her talk, titled “Humanities Research as Public Practice: Asking, Listening, and Learning Across Disciplines” will take place at 1 PM in Whitaker Commons.
Hood College is located at 401 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701
Most of the events will take place in Whitaker Campus Center (#25). The evening True Story! storytelling event will take place in the Avalon Theatre, located downstairs in Tatem Arts Center (#27).
Additional Information for Panelists
Presentations should not exceed fifteen minutes in length.
We will have a projector and a laptop available. You can also use your own laptop. If you are using a Mac, please be sure you have an appropriate VGA connector.
