The Conference

The Humanities at Hood Conference will take place on Saturday, September 14th in Whitaker Commons on the Hood Campus from 8 AM until 5 PM.

The purpose of this conference is twofold: to provide undergraduate and graduate students a venue at which they can gain valuable experience presenting their scholarship, and to advocate for the value of an education in the humanities. There is no charge to attend this conference, and the panels are open to the public.

The Round-Table Discussion

At 1 PM, there will be a round-table discussion, led by Isabella Altherr of Maryland Humanities, on the value of the humanities in contemporary life.

Where

Hood College is located at 401 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701

Most of the events will take place in Whitaker Campus Center (#25). The evening True Story! storytelling event will take place in the Avalon Theatre, located downstairs in Tatem Arts Center (#27).

Additional Information for Panelists

Presentations should not exceed fifteen minutes in length.

We will have a projector and a laptop available. You can also use your own laptop. If you are using a Mac, please be sure you have an appropriate VGA connector.
