On Saturday, Sept. 16th, the Masters of Arts in Humanities and the Humanities Council are co-sponsoring the first ever student humanities conference, Discovering the Humanities. Undergraduate and graduate students from Hood and other nearby colleges and universities will be presenting their research in art, literature, history, classics, music, film, and global languages.

We are also very luck to welcome Bethany Wiggin, PhD, associate professor of German and founder of the Penn Program in Environmental Humanities. At 1 PM, Professor Wiggin will deliver a keynote address on the value of the humanities. Her bio is below.

Students, this is a great opportunity for you to experience an academic conference first hand, right here on Hood’s campus.
