Samuel Tressler IV – Independent Filmmaker
401 Rosemont Ave
Frederick, MD 21701
Sam will speak about the struggles he has experienced over the past 4 years trying to make a feature film at a professional level with virtually no money, industry support, or guarantee that it will even be possible to finish. He questions whether such projects are more about the making or the finished piece, and he explores the strange drive necessary to keep struggling through it all.
Bio: Samuel Tressler IV is a film artist and Director of Photography. He manages Archai Media, a production and rental boutique and Area 31 studio space and popup theater in downtown Frederick, Maryland. Currently he is working on his feature directorial debut, Leda, a 3D, black and white passion project that has been in the work for 4 years. In addition to his own work, Sam finds himself traveling frequently in the US and abroad for commercial and documentary camera work. He also sits on the Advisory board of Stevenson University’s Film and Moving Image Department. Sam’s goal is to develop a unique style in filmmaking (outside of the studio systems) by creating visually driven, conceptually based stories that attempt to take the medium beyond simple entertainment.
